The Appeal
The angular Regal put four-seat motoring into the realm of those without actual car licenses. Cheap to run yet practical and, with its angular ‘breeze away’ rear window, stylish too, it was a huge success.
The firm continuously improved the Regal during its life. The more powerful 701cc 4cyl aluminum engine arrived in August 1968. Buyers could also option the Regal with the plush ‘21E’ package, offering 21 extra features, including a more luxurious interior.
These later, desirable models are now exceptionally rare. Particularly ones like this. It is a proper ‘barn find’ that has been in storage for around 30 years. We’re told it has remained with the same driver from new, passing through two keepers, and has covered a paltry 1,800 miles.
Finished in what is likely non-standard red, it is a restoration project. Buyers should expect to undertake full checks and an overhaul to get it back on the road. For the right enthusiast buyer, it offers a unique low-mileage Regal to enjoy once complete.
