The Appeal
It’s a common theme with British Leyland sports cars - what the firm started, enthusiasts have often completed. Such is the case here, this GT6 being now equipped with a carburettor-fed 2.5L straight six from the TR6 with electronic ignition. As the understated black paintwork, debumpered look, wider track and lowered suspension clearly hint, this is a proper classic sleeper.
We are told that the car was restored in 2006. It remains in good order, with a few areas to the paintwork for the buyer to consider in the photos. Underneath the chassis has recently received a POR15 treatment plus Waxoyling, including the cavities. Inside there is a well-kept black interior featuring very rare rear seat - equipped with belts - and a new walnut veneer dashboard.
The list of work since the vendor acquired the car earlier this year is extensive. It includes carburettor overhaul, full service and work to the brake system. Other improvements include newly refurbished Dunlop wheels and Yokomaha tyres. Gaz adjustable shocks and new front springs combine with the wider track and deep dish steels to deliver a car that we are told handles really well. With the go to match, this would make a very entertaining addition to your fleet.
The vendor says:
“She's not cosmetically perfect, but everything works as it should, the enlarged engine is potent for such a light car and sounds fantastic, while and she should now be a very reliable, usable classic.”
