The Appeal
There are good reasons why TR6s remain in such demand: they’re the last of a certain type of analogue and engaging cars that are all about real driving. Torquey straight six power, chiselled Karmann looks and an absence of driver aids make it a compelling package, even 50 years after the last ones left the line.
This Mimosa Yellow 1973 fuel-injected RHD UK-market car is a proper eye-catcher. It is a desirable ‘overdrive’ gearbox car that we’re told has been comprehensively restored, as evidenced by the photos. It presents well in the usual TR6 check areas, including door shut lines, sills and chassis. It retains its classic factory deep-dish steel wheels and PI system but features some useful upgrades such as walnut veneer dashboard and doors, upgraded headlights, DAB stereo and, most notably, power steering. As anyone who’s driven one will attest, that final addition considerably improves the TR6’s drivability. The cooling system has been improved with a Kenlowe fan.
The vendor states that an alternator was installed in December 2025. The condition is supported by a valid voluntary MOT from December 2024 with no advisories. This appears to be a well-maintained, usable TR6 with improved drivability and comfort features.
The vendor says:
“The TR drives lovely and holds the road very well. The power steering makes a huge difference when cornering.”
