Highlights
- Very tidy and well presented Electric Blue GL1000
- Includes matching well-kept Watsonian side car
- Currently part of a private collection since 2009
The Appeal
Honda had tried to crack the US market before, but with the original Goldwing, the GL1000 it succeeded. That was down to the ‘blue sky’ approach to engineering that delivered America’s first OHC four-stroke, horizontally-opposed, liquid-cooled engine. Other innovations, like the fuel tank under the seat, delivered excellent weight distribution and handling. This was a bike that hit Harley Davidson hard.
It is no surprise that good examples of the original Goldwing are highly collectable. This bike arrived from the USA in 1993 and has been part of a private collection since 2009. Finished in electric blue with gold pinstriping, it is a really fine example with bright chrome. Then there is the matching Watsonian sidecar, which dials up the character and adds extra practicality.
Here is a chance to acquire a classic touring combination in fine condition.
