The Appeal
In true Porsche fashion, the firm kept on making the 924 and then 944 better and better. It’s a theme that the current keeper of this very smart Lux has applied since acquiring the car in 2020.
This car is a late model 2.5L ‘Lux’ with manual box and finished in Nautic Blue metallic, which was available for one year only. Since buying the car the vendor tells us that he has spent over £36,000 on a comprehensive programme of mechanical and cosmetic renewal. At 185,567 miles, the 2.5-litre engine received a full bottom end rebuild, followed shortly after by a head gasket replacement with the block pressure tested and skimmed. Compression readings across all four cylinders are strong and even. The braking system was overhauled, clutch hydraulics were fully replaced, and further work has addressed the steering, cooling system, rear wheel bearings and power steering pump, among other items.
On the cosmetic front, corrosion was addressed on all four lower sills before the car was repainted in its original Nautic Blue Metallic. The interior presents as very original according to the vendor and features a Porsche Club Sport steering wheel, though the driver's seat bolster does show a tear. A substantial history file, original book pack and collection of old MOT certificates accompany the car, thoroughly documenting the investment made.
This 944 is exactly the sort of classic you hope to find, one where someone else has put in all the hard work and investment. It comes to market with usefully long MOT valid to February 2027.
