The Appeal
The Jaguar XJ-S story is one of constant evolution. What began as the bold new E-Type replacement blossomed into one of the greatest grand tourers money could buy. Amidst the backdrop of the global oil crisis, early sales figures were slow, but Jaguar really got into its stride during the late 1980s when it partnered with the performance gurus at Tom Walkinshaw Racing. TWR recognised the immense potential of the XJ-S platform, particularly in the V12 engine. It became a touring car legend, and Jaguar used the bored-out 6.0-litre engine in some of its road cars. Post Ford acquisition, the now immensely popular XJ-S (now XJS) was deftly remodelled in 1991.
By 1994, the XJS had evolved into its ultimate form: a refined continent-crusher with vastly improved build quality. It boasted a raft of significant mechanical improvements over the long-running 5.3-litre cars. With a galvanised body, 305 BHP, a revised GM 4L80E overdrive gearbox, outboard rear disc brakes, and uprated suspension, the 6.0-litre was a comprehensively re-engineered machine. And with just 81 right-hand-drive convertibles produced, it is now among the most collectable of all XJS variants.
We're honoured to present this example, finished in elegant Sapphire Blue metallic over a Cream leather interior. Our car was supplied new by TWR Jaguar Oxford in April 1994 and has had just four registered keepers. Its second custodian, Sports World Group Plc, kept the car for 13 years before it was acquired in 2009 by Clarkes Jaguar, a highly regarded XJS specialist known for handling only the finest examples. Clarkes then maintained the car for a further fifteen years, during which time it covered a mere 8,000 miles, before it was placed into the vendor's private collection.

The history file is thorough: fifteen service stamps fill two service books, all carried out by either the supplying dealer or Clarkes Jaguar. The car retains its original handbooks, all keys with fobs and security tabs, both tool kits, the original 6.0-litre CD information disc, and a stack of historic MOT certificates and maintenance invoices.
Coming from careful, long-term ownership and specialist care throughout its life, this is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after XJS variants in what the vendor describes as outstanding condition. A viewing is strongly recommended to fully appreciate this car. It is surely one of the best examples of the 81 cars produced. Not just in its condition but in its great provenance, history, and ownership.
