The Appeal
Audi’s RS2 Avant, developed with help from Porsche, wasn’t the first uber fast estate, but it is widely regarded as the genre’s godfather. Great as it was, it’s the second generation RS4, the B7, that perfected the idea, giving buyers a rear-bias Quattro set up that was the match of the benchmark M3. And then there’s that 420bhp 4.2L TFSI V8, which a certain farming motoring journalist has called one of the greatest powerplants of the era…
This black Avant adds dog-carrying capabilities to the B7’s roster of skills. It is a smart reminder of how good these cars look, the paintwork and nicely detailed grey leather interior demonstrating the quallity of Audi’s Noughties output. The car is fitted with Le Mans alloys and is largely standard save for a KW coilover kit to replace the troublesome DRC system.
The history file shows a new clutch around 10 years ago and a current MOT valid to June 2027 with no advisories. Tidy and very practical, this brutally fast wagon looks perfect for the summer holiday jaunt to Europe.
