The Appeal
One might imagine a Morris Minor trundling around some chocolate box English village, most likely driven by the local vicar, but this 1968 car is something a bit different...
The Morris Minor has become a much-loved fixture on the historic racing scene, and the HRDC Academy series in particular has given these characterful saloons a competitive platform where they can be enjoyed to the full. Known affectionately as 'Doris The Morris', this 1968 example was converted to HRDC Academy Specification approximately nine to ten years ago, featuring a 1,275cc engine built by CMES and estimated at 90 bhp. Finished in the distinctive 'Minor Million' Lilac with an 'Old English White' roof, wheels, roll cage, and dashboard panels, it cuts a distinctive figure both on track and in the paddock.
After sitting unused for a few years, the car has been comprehensively recommissioned during the current period of ownership, with extensive work carried out across the mechanicals, brakes, suspension, and safety equipment. New in-date motorsport safety equipment has been fitted, and the full scope of work is detailed below. A test day has been completed since the recommissioning, and the seller reports it drives very nicely, pulling well through the gears with no unwanted noises or vibrations. With eligibility for a range of historic racing series, and a spare set of Dunlop Historic tyres, this is reported to be a turn-key opportunity to get on the grid.image.png4.34 MB
