The Appeal

The 328 GTS represents the final and most refined evolution of Ferrari's transverse V8 lineage, a series that began with the 308 and culminated here. With Pininfarina styling, a gated five-speed dogleg manual shifter, and a naturally aspirated 3.2-litre V8 revving to 7,000 rpm, it delivers an analogue driving experience that few modern cars can match. The GTS variant, with its removable Targa panel, adds open-air motoring to the equation, and the 1987 model year sits in a sweet spot: body-coloured bumpers, classic concave five-spoke alloys, and no ABS. Enthusiasts also regard the 328 as one of the most practical classic Ferraris to own and use, with the mid-mounted engine being far more accessible for routine maintenance than many of its siblings.

This particular example wears the quintessential Ferrari livery of Rosso Corsa over Nero leather and has lived a well-documented life that began in Hong Kong in 1987, before being imported to the UK in 1998. During the current owner's tenure of approximately 20 years, the car underwent a comprehensive restoration by marque specialists CSP Specialist Cars. During the CSP restoration, the bell housing was removed for a new clutch, cambelts were replaced, a major service was carried out, and the engine bay received a general tidy-up. Since the restoration was completed, the car has been kept in a dehumidified Carcoon storage tent, and has been started regularly by CSP for maintenance purposes. The car also carries an evocative footnote in its history: in June 2008, the current owner and his wife led the Ferrari Club's Village parade through the old streets at the 24 Hours of Le Mans before driving on the circuit itself in the pre-race parade, an experience no longer permitted. Supported by an unusually thorough paper trail stretching back to its Hong Kong delivery, this 328 GTS presents a compelling opportunity to acquire a carefully restored and well-maintained example of one of Maranello's most cherished sports cars.

The original 'kilometre' odometer showed 59,674 km on arrival in the UK, as per the February 1998 inspection checklist, and 69,789 km on the July 2001 MOT. In March 2007, Rosneath Engineering replaced the original speedometer with a 'miles' unit at a recorded 82,837 km, and issued a formal Statement of Mileage
All subsequent readings are on the current 'miles' instrument. The most recent service in July 2025 recorded 6,939 miles. Approximate true total distance covered is therefore in the region of 58,400 miles.

This 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS is presented in classic Rosso Corsa over a Nero leather interior and has benefited from an extensive restoration by CSP Specialist Cars at a cost of more than £60,000, with supporting invoices. As part of the restoration, the paintwork was resprayed, the seats were re-trimmed, and the interior cloth was replaced. Since completion, the car has been stored for approximately three years in a dehumidified Carcoon storage tent, with the vendor advising that it has been regularly started and inspected. The car also features an updated Blaupunkt stereo, a three-spoke Momo steering wheel, refurbished 16-inch five-spoke concave alloy wheels with the spare wheel included, plus the model's signature pop-up headlights and removable Targa roof panel.
