The Appeal
The Plus Six plays a pivotal role in Morgan’s history, marking the end of an era and the start of another. It is the last Morgan to feature the traditional wing silhouette that has been such a part of these characterful cars’ appeal, and its CX Generation bonded aluminium monocoque platform finally put to bed the steel ladder chassis that Morgan had been using since 1936. Add in the Malvern minnow’s first turbocharged engine, and you can imagine that the 883 cars built, of which just 450 were RHD examples like this one, feel like nailed-on, sure-fire future classics.
Finished in Dove Grey with a beige diamond quilted interior trimmed in Ash Olive veneer, it has covered just 75 miles and is, to all intents and purposes, brand new.
The vendor says he bought it directly from the factory and is only selling it due to a change in circumstances. It was serviced on purchase and has covered just 5 miles since. This handsome Morgan is as much a design piece as a potent sports car. Its classic silhouette disguises a thoroughly modern lightweight platform that helps keep weight down to a mere 1075kg. That’s lighter than an MX-5.
As you would expect, the car presents as essentially unused. The Dove Grey paintwork is tastefully matched with a quilted beige leather cabin, trimmed in Ash Olive veneer and typically detailed with neat Morgan touches.

The classic Rover-engined Plus Eight, which is this car’s spiritual successor, was considered the firm’s exciting sports car, yet it barely mustered half the power of this six-cylinder successor. The turbocharged BMW B58 straight-six has 335bhp on tap, enough to literally catapult this car to 60mph from standstill in 4.2 secs via the 8-speed sequential semi-automatic gearbox.
Not, of course, that this car has been driven like that. It was on 70 miles when it left the factory and shows only 75 miles now. It was serviced when it departed Malvern, so it is ready to use and enjoy. image.png1.16 MB
