In the 60s, the space race was on everybody's mind, and car manufacturers were eager to capitalise on it all. Mercury knew, of course, they were perfectly placed to take advantage of this new zeitgeist, and so they did - proudly naming many of their 60s products after astral bodies.
The Comet was a key example of this, and in order to maintain its altogether cutting-edge identity, the company opted to create an angular car with very real presence. It was an excellent city car - smartly presented and comfortable, even if it wasn't quite the cross-country speedster many of its contemporaries prided themselves on.
They're a rare sight, these days, especially outside of the USA, and this European example is bound to raise plenty of interest. Regularly maintained and highly original, it's a great avenue into the world of the American classic. 122216472 Alex Paalberg.jpg87.86 KB
