The appeal
The W113 250 SL Pagoda occupies a unique position in the lineage of Mercedes-Benz sports cars. Produced over a single model year and with only 5,200 units built for global distribution, it is by far the rarest of the three Pagoda variants.
This example, registered in France, features a beautiful combination of Silver exterior and Red interior and is coming to market in good condition following a professional repaint in 2024. A replacement engine has been fitted, since which the car has covered very few kilometres. Recent mechanical work includes new brakes and a new brake booster, as well as a stainless steel exhaust system.
Supplied with a colour-matched hardtop, the seller states that the car is in very good condition, drives well and is very reliable. For those seeking the rarest of the three Pagodas in good running order, this 250 SL is well worth a closer look.

The colour combination on this W113 – silver metallic on red – is one of the most popular, and it’s easy to see why. On this car, it looks particularly good as the car was professionally repainted in 2024. There are a few points to note in the photos, but nothing that detracts from the overall positive impression.
The interior also looks good and features some lovely touches, such as the original radio.
The mechanics
- 2,500 cm³ in-line six-cylinder engine
- Four-speed manual gearbox
- Power-assisted steering
- Engine replaced at 11,600 km
- The current engine block has covered approximately 12,000 km
- New brakes and brake booster fitted
- Stainless steel exhaust system with a lifetime guarantee
- The seller states that the car runs well and is very reliable
The car underwent a full service at Bracq Heritage Bordeaux (one of the creators of the ‘Pagode’); which included, amongst numerous other tasks, the replacement of the power-assisted steering fluid and filter, as well as the brake master cylinder, all of which resulted in a substantial bill.
Other work was also carried out, notably on the braking system and the fitting of a stainless steel exhaust.
Other work was also carried out, notably on the braking system and the fitting of a stainless steel exhaust.
To conclude, the 2.5-litre engine was a short-lived and now rare option for the W113 and suits the car well, particularly when paired with the 4-speed manual gearbox. The engine in this car is understood to have been replaced and has since covered approximately 12,000 km. It is fitted with power steering.
