The Appeal
If there’s a car you can rely on above all others, it has to be the Toyota Land Cruiser. Not only are they amongst the most capable off-roaders ever made, a Land Cruiser will keep on working mile after mile.
Testament to their longevity, here we have a 1994 VX Turbo 80 Series that has covered an indicated 188,999 miles. Naturally, it’s still going strong and not only that, it’s also in really good condition.
Furthermore, they’re immensely comfortable and make great family transport. So if you’re tired of your lesser all-roader breaking down, or fancy a good old fashioned 4X4 for family duties, then this Toyota has you covered.
The History and Paperwork
- Original document folder complete with instruction manuals
- Small selection of invoices for service items, mostly consisting of oil and filters
- We’re informed the V5C is present
- MOT valid until May 2023
- £7000 on it in the last 2 years exterior and underneath is in great condition, was re-trimmed tied leather last year
The Interior
- The grey leather upholstery presents remarkably well for its age
- We're informed by the vendor that the front seats have been retrimmed in genuine factory leather
- Besides the off small mark and some gentle creasing very little wear is evident to the seats
- Electrically adjustable front seats
- We're told a new electric window motor has also been fitted
- The carpeting appears rather tired but may respond well to a thorough clean
- Veneer on the dashboard and door panels adds a touch of luxury and they’re in reasonable condition with some slight deterioration
- We understand that that the switchgear works correctly
- We note two CD players appear to be fitted in the double DIN slot, the lower being the original Toyota unit for the factory radio
- There are a few marks on the headlining , but it’s in reasonable shape
- Fitted with a sunroof
- Equipped with air conditioning
The Exterior
- The green paintwork has survived very well, having been refreshed recently, according to the vendor
- The vendor informs us that the chassis and alloys have been media-blasted before being repainted, and that the chassis has been Wax-Oyl treated
- Largely straight bodywork, with a few minor dents and some scratches
- The panel alignment looks good and the doors shut well
- The bumpers and side steps remain in good order
- Underneath, this car looks to be clean and well presented
- There are no obvious signs of corrosion to the chassis or the bodywork
- Fitted with a towbar, pin and trailer electrics
- The alloy wheels are in reasonable shape for their age and the tyres look to be in fair condition
The Mechanics
- 4.0-litre turbo diesel
- Automatic gearbox with high and low range
- Locking differential
- We understand that this Toyota drives well and the gearbox operates well
- Under the bonnet, all appears to be in good order
- We're informed by the vendor that the axles have been reconditioned, new brake discs, pads and callipers have been fitted, and new dampers have also been fitted all round
- The vendor also tells us that they have fitted a new cambelt, water pump, radiator, auxiliary belts and given the car a full service with fresh fluids throughout
Summary
These old Land Cruisers make great workhorses and, with the right maintenance, we see no reason why this example shouldn’t remain on the road for many years to come.
