We've really enjoyed our Corvette's in recent times with 3 different versions sold in the last 3 months
We still can't believe what great value they are against the E Type from similar periods
Whopping great V8's with rust free bodywork and acceleration most other cars can't live with, even nowadays
This beauty is the more gutsy L82 version too, giving 250bhp whilst the standard version only pushed out 190bhp in 1973
So this gives a huge shove in the back when the loud pedal is pressed hard
Also remember that in 1972 the SAE power outputs in the US, were re-aligned to nett figures so what used be 270bhp in 1971 was actually 200bhp nett
Hence the L82 was a real driving force (again the 454 big block only pushed another 25bhp at 275bhp)
Our example, as mentioned, is in the most immaculate condition
Lustrous paintwork, shiny chrome work, leather seats as though there were almost new, as is the whole interior too
Even the over mats are covered with over mats!! The dash board, through console, door cards, steering column, fascia veneers and all gauges are immaculate condition
The T-Tops have hand made protector covers whilst in fitted to the car and the rear load shelf, again, has a protected matt to keep the area clean and undamaged
The last owner kept her for the last 21 years and brought her from a chum who had just come back home after a long stay in the States and decided to bring back the best Corvette he could find
He found her in D & M Corvette specialists in Illinois - still around even after all these years
The car has a great history folder including invoices to £16k covering his lavish attention (there is a fully detailed in the list of these works within the history folder)
Just as token herewith a small snippet:-
Rear suspension, gearbox, and power steering overhauled, engine maintenance such as replacing the core plugs, and the fitting of a complete new exhaust system and weather seals
Most of this work was conducted by Jim Stokes Workshops in Waterlooville (who prepare a number of the Corvettes that race at the Goodwood Revival and Members’ Meeting each year)
Prior to this the car made two visits to Dart Corvette in Tonbridge including a complete brake system overhaul, front shock absorbers, and conversion to electronic ignition
Mileage on the speedometer is 64. 500 and all bills in the last 27 years validate the nominal usage during this period and she was only 18 years old when imported to the UK in 1991
The car currently wants for nothing at all, just someone who will use her
A nicer, more genuine example would be extremely hard to find
