1997 Volvo 940 SE 2. 3 turbo automatic estate
These old Volvo estates were a regular sight on the roads but are now getting quite rare. They were a firm favourite with families (and antique dealers!) due to the very large carrying capacity in the days before MPV's and SUV's
The 940 was introduced by Volvo in 1990 as a replacement for the previous 740 model which had been introduced in 1982. Visually they are very similar.
The 740 had been intended as a replacement for the Volvo 240 series, cars that were introduced in th mid 1970's but in fact Volvo continued to make the 240 alongside the 740/ 940 cars right until 1993.
The 940 was produced up to 1998 and was the last of the traditional rear wheel drive Volvo estates (proper volvos). This car was registered September 1997.
These Volvo estates were very over engineered which is why the surviving cars are often in good condition and without significant rust. Engines are very strong and capable of high millages. There was one recently advertised that had covered over 500k.
This Volvo is fitted with factory a/ c but sadly does require regassing, a Bluetooth radio/ cd player has been fitted but original cassette player is with the car. Original rubber matting throughout the car including a factory boot liner.
R638UCC was supplied by a Slaters motor company Volvo in north wales and has spent the past 19 years in north wales/ Cheshire. It has the 2. 3 LPT (low pressure turbo) engine which Volvo promoted as the best engine for towing hence the model being a firm favourite with the caravan club.
