This Volvo 144 was registered in the name of the Swedish Consulate in Hamburg on 19 June 1972. As an official vehicle of the consular corps, it was expected to project an image of prestige, and so it was fitted with factory air conditioning and green tinted glass. The glass complements the green paintwork perfectly, as do the black faux leather seats, the wood inserts on the dashboard and the brown carpet.
Less than a year later, the consulate sold the car to a private owner in Hamburg, who sold it a year later to another owner in Oldesloe.
This owner kept the Volvo until 1983, when he sold it to a teacher from Reinbek.
A Volvo 144 enthusiast from the very beginning, this teacher invested 120 hours of work in its restoration in 1983. He bought new parts for DM 10, 765. 32 and had the bodywork repainted for DM 4, 000. Documentation for all parts replaced in 1983 is available. The teacher maintained and serviced the car with the utmost care and kept it until 14 October 2019.
The next owner, also from the Hamburg area, kept it for only three years before selling it in 2022 to a customer from the Berlin area.
This customer is a loyal client whom the seller has known since 2006 through his classic car collection (Peugeot 304 Coupé, Peugeot 404 Break, Peugeot 205, Volvo P121, etc.). Having decided to part with one of his cars, he entrusted this Volvo to us.
The car shows 198, 316 kilometres on the odometer. Its overall condition is exceptional. However, the air conditioning does not meet current standards, but it can be upgraded on request with a new refrigerant, a new protection circuit and an additional fan.
