A superb rust free low mileage Phase1 V70R finished in saffron metallic with just 67, 770 miles from new. First launched in May 1997 to replace the outgoing 850R the V70R is considered by many to be one of the best fast estates of the 1990’s. This phase 1 model Volvo V70R AWD is a superb all round performance car capable of handling the weekly shop with ease and then reaching nearly 150mph where conditions allow.
Fitted with an expensive set of forged Enkei 17” alloys finished in dark graphite and is a real headturner, all four alloys are in perfect condition and have been fitted with brand new 215/ 45ZR17 Toyo Proxes T1-R tyres complete with Volvo centre caps. It has been owned & used since new only on Japan's salt-free & pristinely maintained roads. Paintwork is excellent on this example with a deep shine, it’s evident this V70R has always been kept under a car port or garaged by its previous mature owner and was cared for throughout it’s time in Japan.
Note that it's completely rust free throughout inclusive of the underside. Underneath is in excellent condition having lived its life on salt free roads. Powered by Volvo’s superb 2. 3L five pot B5234T4 engine producing 240bhp and 240Ibs ft torque channelled through an adaptive 5 speed automatic gearbox and an advanced four wheel drive system the V70R AWD is an immensely capable car in all weathers.
As pictures show this is a car that's got pin straight lines on it's flanks. There are zero pin dents, which is a testimony to the care this car's had. It's so well preserved throughout, it still looks in superb order nearly some 18 years after it rolled off the production line.
Interior as pictures show is in excellent condition throughout The beige heated leather/ alcantara diamond stitched seats are in good condition. Steering wheel is unworn as is the shift lever. Floor mats are also in excellent condition, which indicates to us that this car was mainly used in the city and the carpet on the boot floor is still in excellent condition, indicating this car wasn't used for load carrying much. When we first collected this example we noted the headlining was slightly sagging in places and not wishing to go with the cheap option of glue which isn’t the JT way we have treated this example to a full headlining retrim in simulation brushed suede and it looks fantastic really complimenting the interior trim colour and adding a real touch of class to the interior.
V70R AWD’s are great to drive with in our opinion some of the most comfortable seats ever fitted to a road car and simply superb on a long journey. Handling for a large estate is fantastic with a taut chassis, steering feeling is great and the 4WD provides immense security in all weathers. the charismatic 5-pot 2. 3L 20V turbo engine is smooth and powerful and provides plenty of overtaking punch when needed, the 5-speed automatic gearbox shifts smoothly and precisely and is a real pleasure to use, just smooth refined progress and great for high speed cruising with solid and surefooted handling. Costing well over £30, 000 when new in 1997 this is a lot of estate for the money! We have test driven this example at length and are pleased to report it drives very well indeed. It had it's timing belt replaced at 92, 215km and has been clearly very well cared for by it’s previous owner in Japan and has just received a large service by us in the UK to include a replacement catalytic convertor, front brake discs and pads, oil & filter change, new spark plugs, airfilter and gearbox flush with fresh Dextron3 oil to ensure it runs perfectly for it’s new owner.
