Description
This nice original 986 Boxster S came to us in part exchange for one of our cars, and although it is in good overall condition and drives really well, there are a few minor issues which need addressing (window regulator, air conditioning, headlight washers), and a few areas where we would have to improve the car to bring it up to our “showroom” standard (wheels and tyres, bodywork and paint). To carry out all the work required for our standards is not economically viable, so the car is offered for sale at a sensible price, with a just a few known faults and requiring a Minor service.
EXTERIOR
Finished in Seal Grey, the paintwork is in very good condition, except for a few very small car park dings, to the flanks and offside front wing top. There are a few stone chips to the bonnet and front bumper, but apart from this the paintwork presents well, with no scratches or other paint damage. The headlight washers for the Litronic headlights are not working.
INTERIOR
The black leather interior is in excellent condition, and the specification includes extended leather to dash and door cards, heated seats, Litronic xenon headlights and PSM Porsche Stability Management.
Two issues require attention: the driver’s window regulator needs replacing, and the air conditioning does not work (requires new condensers and a re-gas). All other electrics including the roof work as they should.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 252bhp 3. 2 litre flat-six engine fires immediately and idles cleanly. The clutch is light and the gearchange feels positive and precise as you move through the six-speed gearbox. On the road, the performance is excellent, the engine pulls smoothly through the rev range, handling is precise and the steering is full of feel.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
LT02SSO is fitted with upgraded 18” Sport Classic split-rim alloy wheels, the rears have some kerb marks to the rims. Tyres are Hankook to the front and Kumho to the rear, all with good tread remaining. The Brembo brakes with drilled and vented discs deliver powerful braking with loads of feel through the pedal.
HISTORY
The service record for LT02SSO is good, with 8 service stamps in the book, a mix of OPC dealers and Porsche specialists. The last service was carried out in May 2016 at 61, 080 miles, so the next service is due now and is a Minor service, plus 2 yearly brake fluid change. The next MOT is due in January 2019.
SUMMARY
This is a great looking, usable 986 Boxster S with no major mechanical issues and sensible mileage. Please call Sean for more information or to arrange a visit.
