Description
Welcome to my advert listing for my 2007 Mercedes Benz E280 CDi Sport, which I must stress from the outset of this description, must not be confused with any other E-Class Mercedes advertised for sale. I am very pleased to report that the Mercedes benefits from being a rare and sought after Brabus D6 model, which combined with being a facelift version of the E-Class (and thus benefits from a whole host of improvements over the earlier models), means that it received improvements both aesthetically and mechanically which I shall detail in the description below.
Finished in the very rare-to-see colour of Pewter, as you can see from the photographs the Mercedes is an incredibly striking and impressive looking car which often gets positive comments wherever it goes. The difference between the appearance of this car and an otherwise-standard E-Class is almost bordering on chalk and cheese. As previously mentioned, this is the E280 CDi Sport Model, which not only benefits from the incredibly high specification of the Sport Model, but also those of the Brabus options too. Just one example of the Brabus upgrades is that of the Brabus spoiler upgrade which shows the difference the Brabus upgrades have made to the appearance of the exterior. This subtle upgrade is my personal favourite, whilst importantly remaining subtle but making it stand out from a regular E-Class Mercedes.
The exterior is further enhanced by the factory optional upgrade of tinted windows which give the car some exclusivity, and are complemented with a full set of Team Heko Window Deflectors which are very useful indeed, allowing windows to be opened whilst protecting the inside of the vehicle if it was raining at the time. Based upon the Sport Model of the E-Class, the exterior specification is naturally very impressive anyway, and gives for a subtle yet purposeful exterior appearance including the twin exhaust outlets, body coloured mouldings and bumpers, chrome finishing strips, and 18 Inch Sport Alloy Wheels as to mention just a few. As previously mentioned, as you can see from the photographs, the exterior of the car has a very striking appearance and the Sport specification makes for a very nice change to see compared to a lower specification model.
Moving onto the interior, as one can imagine, it is a lovely place to be with a very high specification indeed. The list of specification points that this car has really is as long as you could imagine, and has pretty much everything that you could think of. What is immediately obvious from the interior is the very fetching contrasting Black and Grey Full Leather Interior which is complimented with the Birdseye Maple Wood detailing on the dashboard, centre console and door tops. As you can see from the photographs, the interior is rather impressive indeed and as expected from Mercedes, you get a sense of quality from the overall feel of the interior presence. Also, it is worth noting the inclusion of the Brabus badge on the steering wheel which gives a hint to the exclusivity. Specification-wise, this includes Full Leather Interior (Electronically Adjustable and Heated Seats), Large Screen Sat Nav System, Full Panoramic Electrically Opening Roof, Superb Stereo System (Has to be listened to, to appreciate the quality), Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, Cruise Control, Speed Limiter, In Dash CD Changer, In Car Telephone, Air Conditioning (Ice Cold – Recently Recharged), Dual Zone Climate Control, etc, etc. As mentioned before, there are endless specification points to list.
Moving to the mechanical side of things, as previously mentioned the Mercedes is the E280 CDi Sport, which means it features the renowned 3. 0 Litre V6 Turbo Diesel Engine, which has covered 99, 000 Miles. The Brabus D6 upgrades features an upgrade to the performance which reputably increases performance by up to 50BHP and an increase in Fuel Economy too. Indeed, 40 MPG is regularly obtainable from my experience of driving the car, and on a long-distance journey the luxurious nature of the car comes into it’s own and is quite simply a pleasure to drive. It is important to note that the Brabus D6 upgrade when released was approved by Mercedes Benz themselves and was available to purchase at great expense – research shows often over £1500 for such a kit, which does not include exterior styling, either. Therefore, it is a rather desirable upgrade and it is the driveability that is improved the most. The 3. 0 Litre V6 Turbo Diesel is coupled to the renowned Mercedes 7G Gearbox which makes for a very well-matched combination. Indeed, the Mercedes is a pleasure to drive and whilst I have mostly driven this in a laid-back and sedate driving manner which the luxurious nature of the car encourages, if needed then the Mercedes has a very good turn of speed that would put the boy racer fraternity to shame. The BHP figures stand at 221 BHP for the standard CDi sport, and therefore with the Brabus D6 upgrade on top of this, this makes for a very good performance figure for this size of car. Indeed, I can report that you would not be disappointed at the performance if you needed it to utilise it, especially combined with the dynamic 7G gearbox, with optional control available through the paddle gearbox controls behind the steering wheel.
In regards to service history, I am pleased to report that the Mercedes comes with it’s original service booklet and book pack, with service records showing a service history to back up the less-than average mileage of just 99, 000 Miles. Often you see these cars advertised north of 180, 000 miles so I would deem this as quite unusual to find with this mileage. I can confirm the following service history details are in the service booklet: 10/ 08/ 2008 – 15, 495 Miles, 10/ 08/ 2011 – 41, 232 Miles, 11/ 09/ 2012 – 50, 465 Miles, 16/ 07/ 2013 – 57, 986 Miles, 02/ 01/ 2016 – 76, 900 Miles, 21/ 09/ 2016 – 86, 600 Miles and 02/ 11/ 2017 – 93, 972 Miles. During my ownership I have carried out further maintenance which includes an Air Conditioning Service (Recharged and Ice Cold in the Summer Heatwave), Brand New Rear Tyres, a New Oxygen Sensor Fitted (Bosch part) and new Brake Pipe. I have recently MOT’d the Mercedes too so it has nearly 13 months MOT, until 20 September 2019. Mechanically I can confirm that the Mercedes accelerates and brakes well, and the gearbox is smooth in it’s operation, as you would expect from this mileage. There are also two keys with the car too.
As previously mentioned, the Mercedes has been a pleasure to own and drive, and since the first part of the year I have covered around 2, 000 miles in the upmost comfort. It has always started first time, every time, and long journeys are where it comes into it’s own. Whilst being a lovely car to own and drive, as with all cars, they have their own foibles and as I prefer to be 100% honest and upfront about such I shall obviously detail them here in the description. Starting on the outside, whilst looking rather splendid in the photographs and from a distance there is the odd slight mark here and there – however, importantly there is nothing majorly horrendous otherwise these would show in the photographs - it is very pleasant looking car with some age-related marks. The most notable is a dent on the bonnet, and a few slight marks on the rear bumper. There are also some kerb markings on the alloy wheels too, however once again nothing which would be deemed as horrendous – but they are not ‘factory fresh’. From a mechanical perspective, the Mercedes drives very well indeed with no untoward noises or vibrations etc, however upon start-up it is worth mentioning there is some expulsion of smoke from the exhaust (as seems to be common with Diesel engine vehicles of this vintage). However, when accelerating there is no smoke visible from the exhaust and the Mercedes accelerates very well indeed. This is not something that has caused any reliability issues or any other troubles – however I am just being honest. The Mercedes drives very well indeed and is a pleasure to drive. As mentioned, please be realistic and expect some age-related marks here and there inside and out commensurate for the age and mileage. However, I am confident that you will not be disappointed, and I welcome all viewings and inspections to satisfy yourself of the condition.
I have tried to be as detailed as I can in this advert description, however if you have any further questions about the Mercedes then please do not hesitate to contact me, of if you would prefer to have a chat on the phone that is fine too. Whilst I have enjoyed owning and driving the car, I have recently bought myself a Land Rover Defender to follow my hobby of off road exploration and the Mercedes is now surplus to requirements. I cannot justify keeping the Mercedes and therefore I have decided to offer it for sale.
Collection is from March, in Cambridgeshire, PE15 - there is a train station here which I am happy to collect you from if needed.
As mentioned, any questions, just ask.
Thanks.
