Description

I've really enjoyed owning this car - I'm selling because arthritis in hands and ankles means that I no longer get the same pleasure from driving it and I can't tinker with it at all. I've driven so few miles this year that I cannot justify keeping it.

I'm the 3rd owner and the 1st (for 30+yrs) lived just 3 miles away so it's very much a local car. In between it lived all of 30 miles away! It has done about 120K miles but it ran with a broken speedo cable for some time so I can't be precise.
I put it in for MOT yesterday and it passed with a single advisory - exhaust middle box.

It looks good in very dark Arden Green with Sandalwood (Light Tan) leather seats and Forest Green carpets. It has never needed bodywork restoration but there are a few non-essential jobs that ought to be done to keep it sound and looking tidy. The MOT tester also made this point yesterday, when we had a chat after the test. The chrome on the bumpers is no more than OK but most of the brightwork is stainless. A few years back I replaced the (bolt-in) roof panel with one fitted with a Weathershields folding roof. This enhances the driving greatly on a bright day and is totally waterproof, and with the wind deflector set up there is no buffeting.
The leather is generally good with a couple of unobtrusive repairs.

Mechanically it is very original though it has had repairs and maintenance as required over the years. I did fit electronic ignition but after the second set-up followed the first into oblivion I reverted to points etc and she now starts and runs just fine. Enginewise the car runs very reliably with plenty of power. The twin 2" SU carbs are a bit of a bugbear on the 2000TC and these could do with a service and balancing accurately. The gearchange is still precise, but there is a bit of an issue with reverse - I have not had it sorted as it isn't desperate. I had 4 Firestone tyres fitted less than 5000 miles ago.
All the jobs that need doing are things that I would have done as a matter of course, part of the pleasures of running a Classic Car, but the damned arthritis means that I can't handle them any more.

I have a couple of boxes of history, manuals and related paperwork including copy of the original Sale Invoice dated 2nd July 1967 and a few spares and service items.
As I'm retired I can make the car available for inspection at almost any time to suit you.
