HISTORY FILE - Our now rare 356 A example hales originally from the US before being rescued and returning home in late 2015. The current custodian, reasonably happy with his purchase, was determined to own ? potentially - the very best 356A available. Following extensive research, marque specialist Finest Sports & Historic Cars in Germany were tasked with a frame off restoration. A 15 month long restoration has produced an astonishing car which has more than achieved its potential. Over 600 restoration pictures are available: from the car arriving in its ?wrong? (see restoration pictures) beige livery; then completely dismantled, to finally a completely restored car in its original factory colour combination you see today. Cathedral Classics are delighted to offer this iconic piece of German engineering to the market place on behalf of the current owner. The vehicle is available for viewing in our Paderborn Showrooms in Germany on an appointment basis and would suit a collector with whom this vehicle will represent a good acquisition opportunity. EXTERIOR - Now finished in its original gleaming factory specification red (Farbton 601) and correct beige matching hood and tonneau; the overall finish is breathtaking and probably better than when it left the factory.
INTERIOR - Possibly the highlight of the car, the quality of work in the beige leather seats has been done to a no compromise standard. Tan period carpets with period rubber foot well over mats complement the tan mohair soft top.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION - The four cylinder 1571 ccm / 55 kW boxer unit, Engine number 84525, has been completely restored and is now run in nicely. Over 140 pictures (available) document the gearbox and engine restoration to exacting standards.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES - Correct chrome pressed wheels and hub caps with quality Vredestein Sprint Classic 165 HR15 86H tyres complete the package.
