The ultimate symbol of British luxury since 1904, Rolls Royce was established by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. Quickly building a reputation for exceptional engineering of both cars and planes, the partners cemented their reputation for quality engines with the release of their second edition, the Rolls Royce 40/ 50 (which later became known as the Silver Ghost).
The Silver Spirit was Rolls Royce's new generation, full-size luxury car, the first of the SZ series. Released in 1980, it utilised the design of the Silver Shadow. The Silver Spirit boasted a premium-quality ride, with: 6. 75L L410 V8 engine, THM 400-3-speed automatic gearbox, hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension, modified with Girling automatic hydraulic ride height control system and gas-charged shock absorbers.
Mark II, in 1989, saw updated suspension, a larger petrol tank and minor design modifications. Four years later, Mark III bought new design features and modified suspension. Mark IV was the last version of the Silver Spirit. Introduced in 1995, the Mark IV delivered a Garrett Turbocharger, a Zytec engine management system, revised bumpers and a wooden column that ran through the centre of the dashboard.
Production ceased in 1997.

The Rolls last service was at Hanwells of London, the supplying Rolls Royce and Bentley specialist, at 70356 miles, at a cost of over £3500.
