A very special facelift 2. 7 Boxster, showing just 32, 400 miles and only 2 owners from new, the most recent of which cherished his car for the past 14 years.
Immaculate in its original and classic Guards Red paintwork with black Alcantara seats, WR03YBS was used regularly by its first owner, accumulating just under 20, 000 miles in 2 years. It was then bought from Porsche Centre Silverstone in September 2005 by the second owner, a retired company director, for sparing use on sunny days only. Kept in a heated garage on a trickle charger for the rest of the time, the car is preserved in amazing condition, with hardly a stone chip on the unblemished and dent free bodywork. The mechanicals have been looked after too, with regular servicing carried out by Porsche Centre Solihull up to 2015, and further maintenance work from a local motorsport engineer, including a new clutch and flywheel, front and rear brake discs and pads, and new Continental SportContact2 N-rated tyres, all fitted within the past 18 months.
The car was specified from new with a couple of nice options: BOSE sound system to complement the standard Becker Porsche CDR-23 head unit, and 18? Turbo-look alloy wheels. The facelift 986 Boxsters from 2003-4 came with a number of detail improvements, including clear indicators, a revised electric hood with glass heated rear screen, a small power increase to 228bhp, re-designed front and rear bumpers, and an updated interior with glove box and cup holders (wow!).
On the road, WR03YBS feels like a 2 year old car, never mind a 16 year old one! Taut and precise with great performance, the clutch is light, gear change positive and the steering and brakes are lovely and progressive – absolutely perfect and a credit to the care and attention that has obviously been lavished on this car over the years.
