We have been looking for a good example of one of these iconic cars for a long time now and we are delighted to have found this superb 1971 P1800E fresh from long term ownership and exactingly restored.
Many of these stylish cars have been poorly restored but not this one. We are assured there is no rust or filler present and a great deal of effort was expended in getting the structure of the car absolutely right. The door shuts, for example, are correct with no unsightly gaps and the sills have been done properly, an area where many restorations fall short. The car was then treated to a bare metal repaint and looks stunning in red with contrasting black interior.
It sits on the correct and rare Dunlop alloy wheels and there also is a genuine spare. However, a brand new set of replica Minilites still in their wrapping can come with the car, should they be preferred.
The interior has been completely refurbished with new leather on the front seats, new headlining and carpets. A lovely period wood rimmed steering wheel is fitted with the original wheel available as a spare. New rubbers have been fitted throughout.
We have just had the overdrive and gearbox rebuilt by experts. New brake calipers have been fitted.
Having had but four owners we have no reason not to believe the recorded mileage of 91, 000 is genuine. There is a complete ownership history with the car together with the original service and warranty book stamped by Lex Brooklands. An owner’s instruction book is also present in the file.
The fuel injected engine starts easily and pulls well throughout the rev range.
These distinctive coupes have rightly attracted a lot of attention over recent years and values have started to rise accordingly. This low ownership and low mileage car represents outstanding value in the current market.
