With just 72 examples arriving on Australian shores with even less on the road today, the 911 GT3 Gen 2 Type 996 is arguably the last of the analogue, driver-focused and most exciting models of the GT series.
The engine was created by Hanz Mezger, Porsche's most famous engine designer.
The 996 GT3's flat-six can trace its origins back to the turbocharged flat-sixes that helped Porsche dominate Le Mans in the 1970s and 1980s.
Its four-valve cylinder heads were derived from those in the 959 and it was the first 911-based street car to employ water-cooling with a dry-sump lubrication system straight out of the 1998 Le Mans-winning 911 GT1.
Sold new in December of 2003 by Porsche Centre Sydney South this stunning Gen 2 GT3 was ordered in Touring specification in Atlas Grey over Black Leather. This vehicle has been specially optioned with:
