MG versions of the ADO16 were produced from 1962 until 1971 first in 1098cc form then 1275cc from early 1968 when the four door option was dropped. Later that year with the launch of the MK2 cars, the MG models gained a new interior and were fitted with twin carburettors, close ratio gearbox and the eleven stud head engine, close in specification to the Cooper-S. These models are now extremely rare with just a handful left on UK roads but are surprisingly practical and still very affordable.
This car is a 1971 MG1300 in Connaught green. The mileage is correct at just 43, 000 from new, due to a long period in storage from 1985 until 2014. The body and underside are in superb order and the original interior is hard to fault, as you can see from the photos. There is comprehensive service history up to 24, 000 miles then several recent bills for annual servicing since it was put back on the road. We have just carried out various minor jobs after a period of little use and a couple of hundred test miles - it is running and driving beautifully and ready for use.
