Description
For Sale: 2004 built 2009 Registered MG X-Power SV-R , The 2004 Motor Show Launch Car
A fantastic opportunity to own a unique piece of British automotive history. Very rare car anyway but this is the launch vehicle displayed on the MG Rover stand at the 2004 NEC Motor Show and MPH show, the ultimate expression of Peter Stevens and his MG design team’s forward thinking and innovation.
Designed with a desire to create an uncompromising muscle car. Part built at a factory in Modena with an Italian chassis, Ferrari suspension, Maserati heating system and a cammed Ford Mustang Engine and then finished in a purpose built factory in Birmingham
The SV-R is already vanishingly rare, with only around 40 X-Power SV-Rs ever produced. As the factory show car, this particular example represents the absolute zenith of that brief.
I bought the car 6 years ago having first viewed it at the NEC motor show as the launch car on the MG stand in 2004 and have wanted it ever since. It was not registered until 2009 hence the 2009 registration and the MG09 SVR registration that I got for it.
It was registered specifically to use in the MG’s 75th Anniversary parade with Prince Phillip.
When I bought the car it had approx 7000 miles on the clock it now has 11800 miles with a constant clean MOT history and serviced every year at Retro Sports Cars. When I first bought the car I had it professionally detailed and ceramic coated by Byron at Top Wrapz in Birmingham who is amazing. It had a full Gtechniq Ultra Black with EXO Overcoat with a 9 year guarantee at a cost of nearly £2000. I also transported the car to a specialist company in Kent who fully cleaned and protected the chassis and all items using only the best materials over a week-long process and then got it transported back to me.
Over my time of ownership it has only ever had 99 octane fuel and used in good weather it has been used as the stand car at various events being that Salon Prive or for Peter Stevens in a design talk with Julian Thomson at Bicester. It has also over the years been featured in lots of Magazines and articles.
The car was also borrowed by Drivetribe and a video of the car can be seen on Youtube but I cant link to it on here but can be easily found on there.
Current mileage is 11800 and the car is in amazing condition and a joy to own what is a very very rare car with very limited numbers made.
Genuine reason for sale. My wife is working in America for 10 months a year and my son has moved to Australia so I am going to slow down and spend some time travelling to see them.
