EXTERIOR
Immediately recognised as the Turbo by its flared rear arches and Whale-Tail rear spoiler this example is finished in a gleaming shade of Slate Grey, a classic and popular Porsche colour. There are minimal blemishes across the cars shining exterior despite its age and mileage, largely thanks to a complete respray in its original factory supplied colour in 2015.
Plastics and trim maintain good feel and integrity, with no significant fading or wear, whilst glass, lenses and lights remain chip and mark free, many of which were changed during the cars recent recommissioning.
The fabric hood appears to be original and a factory fit electric folding version that is completely automatic from start to finish.
INTERIOR
The seats and trimmings are in good condition considering the cars age and mileage while also having benefited from a recent interior work. The grey leather shows minimal wear and is complimented by contrasting red piping that contributes to a subtle colour offset and contour to the seat shape. Grey mats and carpet arrangement complete the interior colour coding.
The familiar dash arrangement is particularly clear, with surrounding switchgear and dials in full operational order. The car is equipped with an electric fully automatic hood and a LG stereo.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Upon ignition the familiar howl of the flat 6 barks into life and settles confidently to a deep idle. This Turbo engine has been subject to a great deal of love and attention over the years, having undergone an extensive rebuild less than 200 miles prior to its arrival with us at a cost of over £20k. Upon test the car boosts nicely and works up the rev range smoothly, although that revered turbo delivery requires total focus and attention.
The tactility of the then modern 5 speed G50 box is slicker than the more traditional 4 speed, the drivetrain as a whole feeling strong and precise.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The traditional 16? Fuchs wheels in black offset the Grey coachwork and come with special order Porsche centre crests that look superb. The black paint and polished rim in excellent order.
Wheels are wrapped in premium Continental rubber with plenty of depth whilst brakes work well with no adverse pitch or pull.
HISTORY FILE
This C16 930 was first delivered in 1990 to UK dealer JCT600 and was first registered on 01/ 08/ 1990, of what must have been one of the last cars to be registered before the 964 was introduced. A RHD turbo Convertible with G50 gearbox a rare model in its own right.
Specified in colour code Slate Grey L22D the car saw regular use and servicing at various Porsche main dealers up to 2001 at 79, 718 which is documented and stamped in the original service book.
From this point onward it was used sparingly with much of its time spent off the road and in storage until a recommissioning program was started in 2015 by it new and current owner. This included extensive bodywork taking place before being passed on to a Porsche specialists who were tasked to go through the car with a fine tooth comb. This resulted in what can only be described as an open cheque book exercise between 2015 – 2019 with over £30k spent to include a full respray, interior work and engine rebuild.
With less than 500 miles covered since the majority of the work done it stands as a fantastic proposition for a new owner to take charge of this superb 911. Included in the history file are the original books and manuals along with 2 keys.
