I'm selling my beloved W124 as something smaller beckons, this is the sort after (and much better looking) "pre-facelift" body (with the large chrome grill with the 3-pointed star mounted on grill) but factory fitted with the later DOHC 24 valve engine. As such it has slightly more power than even the 3 litre 12 valve engine yet with better fuel economy. It is my understanding that only the 300-24 and 280T/ E of this year featured the above spec from the factory and as such they are quite desirable and hard to find.
This fine example has covered a little over 142, 000m and is still quiet and silky smooth. Nicely finished in the two-tone Silver over Grey colour.
In terms of service history, there is a thick folder of invoices and paperwork, as well as the stamped book and separate invoices for work carried out. Earlier this year all the brake discs, pads and shoes (for the parking brake) were replaced with Brembo items and they work exceedingly well!
The bodywork of the car is in good overall condition, there are a few minor marks commensurate with age and mileage, but the paintwork is very good. The genuine and correctly specced 8-hole alloy wheels are in very good condition shod with Michelin tyres all-round, these were fitted roughly six months ago. I also have a full set of original steel wheels which are the correct extra load spec for the TE (estate). The car a good few years in France and this is perhaps partly why it's so clean and free of rust.
Inside, the seats have held up remarkably well, with almost no wear at all and no marking or discolouration, there has been a well made repair to the drivers bolster and the centre armrest has been removed as this had broken (I have kept the cover though so a replacement armrest could easily be sourced and the cover swapped over). The wood trim is in good order as are the leather steering wheel and gearknob. I also include the combination load liner/ dog guard which is a fantastically deisgned thing and very strong. It is fitted with a period cassette headunit with 6 CD multi-changer in the boot. All four electric windows work well as does the one-touch down feature. The sunroof tilts however not sliding back (the felt trim is very tight (certainly no leaks!) and it probably requires little more than a new seal to work in all directions again.) The self levelling suspension works as it should as does the soft close tailgate (a remarkable feature for a car of this vintage).
