If there's one car with a reputation for being the most reliable in the world, it's the Mercedes 123. More than 2. 5 million of these cars were produced between 1975 and 1986, in a variety of engines and body styles (saloon, estate, long estate, limousine and coupé). In other words, a W123 is a saloon, an estate is an S123, a coupé is a C123, etc. It was gradually replaced in the mid-1980s by the Mercedes Type 124 (which later became the E-Class). NYC's/ OXOTO is offering for sale a magnificent example in grey, with dark blue cloth interior and less than 34, 000 original km. What's more, we have its complete history at our disposal!
Delivered new in May 1980 in Germany where it has remained in the same family, it became Dutch in 2011 where it totalled +/- 24, 000 Kms. At the end of 2018 (32, 000 km), its current and 3rd owner, a Belgian, bought it from a dealer specialising in German vehicles with very low mileage. Due to a lack of time and the many other Mercedes in his extensive private collection, he decided to sell it to another enthusiast!
We'd like to make it clear straight away that this example of the Mercedes 280 E is a genuine museum piece, perfectly roadworthy and completely original! The bodywork is beyond reproach, it is in its original paintwork and still has all its original windows, so it has never been damaged or repainted. We didn't find the slightest scratch, corrosion or dent, so it really can be considered a brand-new car, despite being 45 (!) years old. The interior looks great too: seats, dashboard, centre console, roof lining, steering wheel, carpets, etc. You can see that this is a car that has been particularly well cared for; it still smells like new! Absolutely nothing to complain about, and nothing to predict. As for the mechanics, we have all the original invoices and service book (see photos on our website). It has always been meticulously maintained and kept in dry conditions. We have reports from the Dutch roadworthiness tests, ALL without the slightest remark. The latest Belgian MOT report dates from April 2021 (33, 653 km) and is also free of any remarks... As well as being in excellent condition and having a super engine (6-cylinder, 2. 8l developing 185hp), it has some very pleasant options such as a sunroof, automatic gearbox, electric windows, spare wheel, tempomat, radio (original and working), ....
