1965 Austin Healey BJ8 MKIII Convertible with Over Drive – RHD
Matching Numbers & Original Factory Specification Overdrive Gearbox
Finished in Healey Ice Blue over Ivory with Blue Leather Upholstery, Blue Carpets and Blue Vinyl Hood.
Specification: Addition Lucas Driving Lights, Chrome Effect Wire Wheels, Rear Exit Stainless Exhaust System, Uprated Cooling Fan, Servo Brakes, Full Weather Gear & Tonneau Cover included.
Originally constructed on the 28th May 1965 to LHD North American Export specification this example was dispatched on the 5th June 1965 to New York where it remained until it was re-patriated back to the UK in 2003
Restoration Works started in earnest in 2014 and what followed was a full nut and bolt, rotisserie restoration removing any rust and converting to RHD Specification, the details all of which are documented with photographs and receipts.
The Car first came into our possession in 2016 as a finished restoration and we conducted a comprehensive shake down and Service before UK Registering to its first UK owner in 2017.
The last Custodian had specific plans to enjoy extended Motoring Journeys and to Tour Europe in a Classic Car – the Healey fitted the bill perfectly and was immediately put to use with its inaugural Journey to the South of France. Proving to be both a joy to drive and reliable the Classic Motoring Bug was firmly embedded. Further improvements followed, changing the exhaust system and adding vented rear discs to name but a couple of items which improved the drive & practicality further. Whilst the Engine was running well it was felt that further pleasure could be obtained by undertaking a Full Engine Rebuild and employing common upgrades such as lightening and balancing, converting to unleaded spec and employing a Modern Rear Oil Seal Conversion – taking a long term view what ensued was a no expense spared rebuild including the Carburettors and the Distributor recalibrated to match the new specification engine – all work completed to the highest standards and detail painted the Engine was re-installed in time for the 2018 Motoring Season so the Healey once again was back in service travelling the roads of Europe.
With Classic Cars – Long Term Plans Often Change and having purchased a LHD Classic for overseas motoring we have pleasure in being able to offer the Healey back to the market.
Having now completed some 3, 000 trouble free miles this Example we can say with some confidence is "Fully Sorted" and would be ideal for a New Owner who wants a reliable Classic Drivers Car - ready to both admire but more importantly to drive and enjoy.
