The Mk3 Zodiac was produced from 1962 until 1966. In terms of styling, it was a radical departure from the earlier cars and was fitted with disc brakes, all-syncro four speed gearbox and improvements to the 2553cc 6-cylinder engine, providing 100mph top speed.
This car is a 1963 Zodiac in Panama Yellow with grey trim. It was an excellent car before being left outside under a cover for a long period and we are offering it here as a straightforward project. We have just carried out some basic re-commissioning and it is now running and driving - the engine, gearbox, clutch and brakes are all working well although some further work will be required before it can be used to travel any distance on the road!
The underside and floors are strong and solid other than one area of rot, O/ S rear sill to floor area and one front “outrigger” is finished. The upper body is reasonable with good panel fit but a few areas need attention, the worst being the O/ S inner to outer wing area. The tyres will need replacing and the dynamo or regulator will need attention and there is an exhaust blow at the manifold (although the exhaust stainless and in good order) and various other minor jobs. In summary, although this is a restoration project it could easily be in use with a couple of weekends work for an able mechanic. The number plate is original and transferable. We do not remove numbers from cars but it is worth noting that similar plates are being offered at substantially more than our asking price!
