EXTERIOR
Finished in a period shade of Agave Green, the coachwork of this 2002 presents in fantastic condition retaining a deep shine across its surface. It has had a little paintwork to get rid of any small chips and scratches but has never suffered any corrosion issues and as such remains free from any body repairs and incredibly original.
It’s carries a definite retro charm, with its boxy figure offset wonderfully by its chrome bumpers and trim to give it a sense of refinement and elegance. Overall the condition of the trim is very good, with no fading of the chrome and the rubbers still remaining supple and crack free.
INTERIOR
The interior is light and airy and remains in excellent condition, with no cracks or discolouration to any of the trim. The condition is remarkable, considering this 2002 is nearing 50 years old, with the lovely woven tan vinyl seats showing no signs of wear or creasing and the dash free from any unsightly cracks or fading.
Equipment is basic, with the standard BMW radio and manual heating present and functioning as they should.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This 2002 has only done 58, 963 miles and has been in constant use its whole life and maintained to an excellent standard. The car fires into life on the first turn of the key and quickly settles to a smooth idle, the engine provides plenty of performance and is more than capable of keeping up with modern traffic. The auto box goes smoothly through the gears and makes for a very relaxed drive.
The car clearly has been maintained to a very high standard, with an abundance of stamps in the original service book as well as a full folder of service and parts invoices dating back to the 1970’s.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The car retains its original 13? steel wheels with a perfect set of chrome hub caps. Tyres are a matching set of Pirelli P300’s which still show even and plentiful depth at all corners. The brakes work well and pull the car up in a nice straight line.
HISTORY FILE
This 2002 was first registered in April 1971 so its rapidly approaching its 50th birthday. The original service book is still with the car, with 13 stamps outlining services that carried out with early owners, almost entirely done by the same BMW specialist. The current owner has also been fastidious in his maintenance of the car, with a comprehensive selection of service and parts invoices all from the same BMW specialist since he purchased the car in 2011 from ourselves.
There are also 29 old MOT certificates to further verify the low mileage and a folder full of receipts detailing work that has been done over the years.
The owners manual is also still with the car alongside two of the original 2002 Sales brochures and a set of spare keys.
