Introduction
Here at Old Colonel Cars we have what must be one of the best Ferrari 328 GTS on the market today. This pristine 1987 example is a UK Rhd car. Its the desirable pre ABS model and has covered only 33, 000 Miles. This low mileage is backed up by a fully documented service history. Its clear to see, this low owner 328 has always been correctly maintained, by Ferrari or well respected Ferrari specialists. To prepare this car for sale correctly, this 328 has just been fully serviced, including the important cambelt change, by Ferrari main dealer GreyPaul of Nottingham. This example is in immaculate condition throughout, definitely one for the collector, someone who wants the best must see this car.
Specification
This 328 is finished in the classic Ferrari Rosso Red with a Black interior. The 328 GTS was deigned as a targa model, so it features a removable roof panel that stores behind the seats. This example is a pre ABS car, so it features the better looking, early alloys. Inside the spec on this 328 includes extended leather, including on the dash. The exhaust system on this car has been improved, just slightly louder and deeper note, but tuned so not to be annoying on long journies, the perfect quality system.
This example features air conditioning, which on this well cared for car, kicks in as it should.
Bodywork / Interior / Wheels etc
The Rosso Red paintwork is in immaculate condition. This car has been cherished and the paintwork is excellent. Its been protected with a high quality wax protection so will continue to look outstanding. This is a beautiful car that would stand out in any collection or at any show. One of the major improvements on the 328 over the earlier 308’s was that 328’s had galvanized body panels. So as you would expect on this cherished car, there is no rust.
The Black extended leather interior is the perfect choice. The condition throughout is excellent, again its clear this car has been correctly looked after. The leather extends to the dash and door cards, giving this car the extra quality feel. We have the original toolkit in its original leather pouch. Take a look at the many interior pictures on our website, it quite amazing how good this interior is. The deep pile carpets look new, the leather on the seats is lovely and soft, the leather on the dash and doors cards also in amazing condition.
The Alloys are all in perfect condition. Look closer, the classic Ferrari badges are very fresh looking, no fading etc. All are fitted with the correct Michelin tyres, all with plenty of tread remaining.
Chassis
Please see the many pictures of the underneath of this car. The outstanding condition continues, the sills and jacking points are all in excellent condition. Look closer, all the suspension components, the brake lines, all in excellent shape. Its clear to see this car has been garaged through the winters.
Engine / Gearbox
The engine fitted to the Ferrari 328’s is a superb 3. 2 V8 Dino engine, producing 270 BHP. A 4 valve per cylinder engine with fuel injection, this engine has proved to be very strong and long lasting when maintained as well as this example. As you would expect for a car with such a history, this 328 sounds and performs perfectly. Oil pressures are all correct hot and cold, this example is free from any oil leaks. The 328 revs to 7000 RPM, with the engine just behind you, its a glorious sound.
The 328 features a 5 speed manual gearbox. On this example all gear changes are reassuringly precise, the gearbox performing as it should. The clutch feels just right.
History
This 328 was originally supplied by HR Owen, Central London’s main Ferrari dealer. It’s shows only 4 former keepers in 33 years. We have all the original manuals, in their original leather wallet along with a fully stamped original service book. The well organised history folder contains every MOT from new, old tax disks, SORN’s showing the car was always stored an unused in winter, a folder full of old service receipts including the latest from Ferrari with it’s clear condition report. We have documentation showing this has been a Ferrari Club Owners car for many years and shown at various gatherings. We also have certificates for the Alarm and Tracker along with a clear HPI report. Whilst reading through the history you can see the recommended recalls have been doing including the important oil cooler and pipework. Please see below for a full service breakdown.
Summary
This 328 will not disappoint. It’s such a lovely example. The 328 is one of the most reliable and simple to maintain of the classic Ferrari range. Basically Ferrari took the original 308 and improved it all round to become a much nicer car to own, with much better rust protection and reliability.
They are a very popular addition to any collection. Often recommended as the model to buy, prices will remain strong.
