1959 MGA Twin Cam Coupé
Though any MGA Coupé represents a fine combination of class and curves for a fraction of the prices commanded by contemporary rivals, a restored Twin Cam model such as this example is an even more appealing prospect.
For sale on behalf of a self-confessed ‘MG geek’, this 1959 MGA Twin Cam Coupé is only for sale due to the aforementioned enthusiast’s increasingly sparing use due to his age. One of only 163 right hand drive Twin Cam Coupés ever made, the MG Car Club believe there may be fewer than 40 left today.
Finished in Mineral Blue with Grey leather, the car left the production line at Abingdon on 5th May 1959 as an original RHD UK market Twin Cam and was delivered to first owner Mr Paul Godber of Weymouth. Having been fully restored in the early 2000s, the car presents in excellent condition today having been cared for ever since. The owner reports the glorious 108 BHP 1556cc engine is running superbly, and on unleaded fuel, with ideal oil pressure and the carburettors refurbished in 2016 by specialist Andrew Turner alongside fitment of a new water pump sourced from Germany.
The car also received extensive engine work by DMD Auto Services in 2018, which saw the engine removed and stripped with new gaskets and seals fitted before being repainted to create a very tidy engine bay. Other items included new coolant, heater and water pipes, new clutch release bearing and gearbox input shaft seal alongside much more at a total cost of just over £2, 700.
Today the car is on-the-button and ready to go with the colour combination suiting the car perfectly, and the interior is in fine condition as is the exterior. Some re-chroming would lift the car, but overall this desirable variant of a true British classic is in fantastic condition. Sold with original buff logbook, Heritage Certificate and maintenance invoices, this rare and correct MGA is available for viewing at our West London showroom.
