XFO 890 is a very rare original right hand drive 3000 MkI 2+2 Healey originally delivered to South Africa in 1959. Just 5 Healeys were shipped to South Africa in 1959, with a total of 45 exported here over all 3000 MkI production. These cars therefore are incredibly rare (10, 825 MkIs were produced) and are often sought after in Healey circles as such cars delivered to this warm climate often retain very original panelling. XFO 890 is no different with all original body panels still present on the car today.
Lightly restored in 2002 with an exterior repaint in Flame Red with Ivory Duotone and a complete interior retrim with Black seating with perforated inserts and White piping plus Black carpet. The car features an upgraded engine with strong performance, healthy oil pressure and keeps cool.
At present day this Healey remains presentable but with scope for future improvement. The paint still has deep shine but is beginning to lift in a few areas (photos to follow on our website) due to corrosion and previous poor repair. As such XFO 890 presents a fantastic opportunity to the buyer to purchase an excellent value car with scope for further improvement in the future – which could be done as and when the buyer pleases over time. Structurally the main chassis rails and floors of the car appear to be in good condition (see gallery for photos on our website of underneath).
