We are delighted to present for sale this Series 2a Land Rover®, presented in military style, with NATO Green bodywork. Externally, it has many period features – the front lifting eyes, additional spotlights, vintage numberplates, bridging plate, wing-top mounted mirrors, rear grabhandles and recent khaki canvas give a period look. The paintwork is of the typical military finish we expect to see, which we have elected to retain as it is authentic to the vehicle. There are other military styling tweaks such as the rear reflectors and lamp guards. The vehicle also enjoys aluminium door tops, as is common a vehicle that spent time in the forces to ward away corrosion. A new set of 750 Military Chevron Style tyres are fitted, to give a butch stance and to aid gearing and fuel economy.
The interior houses three recent front standard seats with deluxe matting to the footwells. It is pleasing to see that the original twin-wiper motors survive. There is an auxiliary panel with a 12v socket and there are also additional switches for reversing lights, fog lights and spot lights, which all function as they should. The rear is unfitted, but could house bench seats on request for £295 to allow for seven seated including the driver. The front cabin also has a neat headliner fitted to stop condensation in winter and provide additional sound proofing.
Out on the road, this old girl drives just as she should – the larger 750 tyres give better gearing and more comfortable cruising also. Due to the military look, it really turns heads when you are out and about – and we enjoyed the test drive and admiring glances.
In summary, if you are looking for a Series 2a that won’t break the bank, but still turns heads and can be used for either leisure or moving loads, then this characterful Series 2a could be for you. With MOT & Tax Exemption (along with classic insurance), it should prove cheap to run long-term whilst also being a solid investment for the future.
