For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 2 Ragtop in Marine Blue (1960).
Petrol 2286cc. MOT with no advisories until 18th January 2021, but MOT Exempt anyway. Tax Exempt. Galvanised Chassis. Galvanised Bulkhead. Overdrive. Aluminium Door Tops. Unleaded head conversion. Free Wheeling Hubs. Recent Heater.
We are delighted to present for sale this very high-specification Series 2 Land Rover®, presented in popular Marine Blue with limestone wheels and sand canvas.
The exterior of the vehicle is complemented with bonnet mounted spare, defender-style mirrors for improved visibility, a front and rear towbar to allow for versatility in towing, rear mudflaps, rear grabhandles and vintage plates. The vehicle sits on a set of 750 tyres with matching spare. This gives. ave
The interior houses three deluxe front seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells. A heater is fitted with twin front demist (handy for the winter mornings!) and there are twin wiper motors fitted, which is nice to see. The original ‘twist’ vent openers and horn on stalk also survive, which denotes the fact that is a Series 2 Land Rover® and not a 2a. It is also good to see that the original 3 spoke steering wheel has survived. The rear is unfitted with the exception of a load mat, but rear benches could be added for £295 to increase seating to seven occupants including the driver.
Perhaps what sets this vehicle apart from others is the level of mechanical specification – it is clear that the previous keeper knew what he was doing when the car was rebuilt. The chassis and bulkhead were both galvanised for longevity, and aluminium door tops are fitted to ward away the weak areas where corrosion can form. An unleaded cylinder head has been fitted, and this coupled with the larger tyres and overdrive gives this vehicle a strong turn of speed that others of the same period do not enjoy. Free Wheeling Hubs are also fitted to limit front axle wear and further increase fuel economy. The culmination of all these expensive options gives a very capable vehicle that should last for many, many years – it would particularly suit someone who was hoping to keep the vehicle in the family for a long time. It delivers a very pleasing period driving experience.
In summary, if you are looking for a vehicle that will outlast you and be inherited by future generations within the family, whilst still giving a better than usual driving experience, then this is for you. With classic insurance, MOT and tax exemption and a strong spec, it should prove to be a solid investment for the future whilst being cheap to run in the long term.
