Originally ordered new by a Gentleman from his local Rover agent Averills of Diss, Norfolk back in October 1999, the car spent the next thirteen years in his ownership, covering barely 15, 000 miles, until he passed away, with ownership passing to his daughter in November 2012. I acquired the car in October 2019 and set about the lengthy and rather costly process of recommissioning the car, restoring it to its former glory.

The car also comes with two keys, original sales brochures, September 2020 HPi test showing the car as HPi clear and factory build data report. The history file goes back to 2000, with correspondence from Ames MG Rover and details the following services.

Since acquiring the car I have spent over £4, 000 comprehensively overhauling the cosmetics and mechanics of the car, with works including alloy wheel refurbishment, replacement cambelts, water pump, pair of front springs and strut top bearings, front and rear brake discs and pads. This work was carried out in addition to the full ‘90, 000 mile service’ and various other minor mechanical and cosmetic improvements including an Air Conditioning re-gas.

Early Cowley built 75’s are becoming ever more scarce, with their superior material quality, benefitting from escaping MG Rover Groups ‘Project Drive’ cost saving exercises. They are more highly prized among amongst enthusiasts. This example with its rare and desirable specification, in superb unmodified condition has the provenance and mechanical works carried out to ensure it is a true classic in years to come.
