Beschreibung
This Old English White and SkyBlue MG Magnette has had just three former keepers. Part of the reason this charming car is so well preserved is the fact that it has been wax-oiled - doors, rear wheel arches etc, with the plugs visible in the photographs as proof, as if the condition of the bodywork isn't proof enough!
VIN Chassis No.: GHS223305
First registered: 01. 03. 1964
The chrome bumpers are in excellent order, and the front grille is exceptional. The engine bay is also very clean, with the engine beautifully detailed, and the boot is amazingly preserved - outstandingly clean and tidy. The rear brakes are freshly overhauled and the car sits on recently new tyres.
This Magnette features a cracking 1622cc four-cylinder A-series engine - with twin carbs - which has covered a mere 60, 000 miles in its 57-year lifetime. The gearbox is a famously reliable BorgWarner automatic transmission; BorgWarner were world leaders in automatic gearboxes then as they are today.
The underside of the car, as the photos show, is just incredible. As rock solid as any classic car from the 1950s - probably thanks to WaxOyl again.
The interior of this car retains all of its 1960s magic, and the carpets and seats are completely original. It's astonishing to see the dashboard so fantastically preserved; the wood is completely unmarked, and reassuringly solid quality wood too, all without any sun damage or fade.
The vinyl is similarly outstanding, with no damage or obvious ageing to it at all - the whole thing is a real time machine. But not too old, as well as the smmoth gearchanges and premium ride quality, the in-car entertainment includes a push-button radio, something we all take for granted nowadays, but quite rare for the time.
On the subject of rarity, the DVLA currently lists a grand total of seven MG Magnette Farinas in existence. This is now an extremely rare car, and this particular one is in magnificent state. Seriously, can you remember the last time you saw one of these on the road?
