This very special Healey XYL 912 is an absolute rarity, ordered new in 1959 by special order for display in the BMC Piccadilly Show Rooms, London as a show car finished in Pacific Green with Florida Green Duotone with Grey leather seating. This stunning period colour combination was a special order usually seen in the American market, utilised on this original RHD UK car to grab the attention of passers-by and push how special BMC/ Healey cars were.
Restored in 2005 this Healey externally still presents very nicely today, still wearing its original faithfully reproduced colours owing to well-executed attention to detail of good quality. XYL 912 wears correct Aluminium Silver wire wheels wrapped in Firestone F560 tyres.
Correctness is in fact a feature of this car, as inside it retains very rare Grey/ Cream upholstery with Green carpet with a matching Grey tonneau. The interior trim is very nicely finished, clearly a professional re-trim and not a cheaper kit (this most likely would have been a requirement to source the correct original colours).
Mechanically this Healey is very well sorted and once again crucially very original. XYL 912 even features its original auto-choke mechanism – featured on many early Healey 3000s – still functioning perfectly. The engine is the original number and performs well, as does the gearbox and overdrive.
