1978 Right Hand Drive Jaguar XJ6 Series 2 LWB saloon 4. 2 litre petrol automatic in Red with Black Vinyl roof and Cream Leather interior. Ex Jaguar Enthusiasts Club car, this car has had all new floor pans professionally fitted and is very solid underneath. The only bits which I have seen for welding is around the drivers side fuel tank for the mounting points.
I have the Log book for the car along with a couple of old log books which have the details of some of the previous owners, which there are 4.
Mechanically, the car starts and runs & stops, the carbs have been reconditioned, new automatic choke fitted and adjusted, all brakes have been released and worked, new rear drivers side fuel tank, sender and pump. All the electrics were gone through up to MOT standard last year and the windows with locks greased up for use, new washer pump was fitted along with good replacement parts as necessary along with series 3 front lights. The engine now has a tapping sound from one of the cylinders, I have been advised to use the car lightly at first and see if it goes as it is common on these engines. I believe the car is ready for an MOT once the welding by the tank has been done. Please bare in mind the car has been sitting a few months since these works so may need a little tickle. The 4th alloy wheel is at home, I was going to attempt to polish this up but would be worth getting it done professionally.
The bodywork is very good for the year, no dents, major scrapes or evidence of accident damage. The paintwork is tatty but the rust visible in the pics is surface or small and not structural, however the car will need a full respray & restoration of the brightwork.
The interior was all removed when the floors were replaced, this all needs to be fitted back correctly and reconditioned as you go. The condition can be seen in the pictures, The woodwork could do with re-laquering.
This is an excellent base for a project but will need work. As stated, it starts & drives but will need to be transported. I have a folder for the car with some old MOT's, receipts and literature for the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club.
You are welcome to come and view the car and ask any questions, I also have a large folder with some history for the XJ
