Description
1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4. 2 OTS Roadster / MOT - 28th April 2027
Hamilton Gray's are delighted to offer this exceptionally attractive 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4. 2 OTS Roadster, a genuine UK right-hand-drive example with an impressive history and provenance.
Finished in its beautiful period blue with contrasting black interior, this is a matching numbers and matching colours example, confirmed by its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Importantly, it is one of only 775 right-hand-drive examples produced for the UK market, making it an increasingly desirable specification.
The accompanying history is particularly noteworthy. The car retains its original chassis plate, original sales brochure, books and wallet, together with its original buff logbook showing a first registration date of 21 May 1970. There is also an extensive collection of historic MOT certificates dating back to the 1970s.
The E-Type spent a significant period in dry storage between May 2008 and March 2024, helping to substantiate the remarkably low recorded mileage, which currently stands at approximately 63, 800 miles. Prior to its current ownership, it formed part of a significant collection and had been professionally stored in dehumidified conditions. The previous long-term owner acquired the car in May 2008 from Peter Jarvis, well known within the E-Type and classic car world.
Approximately £15, 000 has subsequently been invested in recommissioning, including electronic ignition, a stainless-steel exhaust system and the rebuilding of the rear inboard brake discs, amongst other works. The bonnet has also recently benefited from a bare-metal repaint. The result is an E-Type that is reported to start readily and drive extremely well.
Powered by Jaguar’s legendary 4. 2-litre straight-six engine and coupled to the four-speed manual gearbox, the Series 2 Roadster remains one of the great British sports cars of its generation.
