1938 Opel Cadet Master 4 door saloon is a rare UK model known in Germany as the Kadett K38 Spezial sedan. This is possibly the only remaining survivor of the few right hand drive German-built Opel Cadets built in Rudesheim which were exported to the UK.
The large history file for this car includes specification information as well as copies from period ‘Motor' magazine features on this model. There is also an original English Language instruction book, produced by Adam Opel AG. There is also a picture of a fleet of Opel Cadets subsidised by the German government arriving at Southampton docks in March 1938. Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain's famous ‘Peace in our time' speech was in September that year and one month later German models were exhibited for the last time before the war at the London Motor Show. Quite probably this may be the sole surviving Cadet from that German export drive to the UK. This lovely example has been restored and today it presents very well with a nicely detailed engine bay.. It has a 1074 cc Side Valve motor with a 3 speed gearbox which performed very well on my drive out in the Cadet . This is definitely one for the classic car rally and show circuit where the car is sure to be a talking point.
