Description
Title
Jaguar Xk120 DHC, Concours Winner.
Launched at the London Motor Show in 1948. The Jaguar XK120 remained in production until 1954. Available in two open versions, the open two-seater (OTS) or drophead coupe (DHC), and from 1951, the fixed head coupe (FHC).
This Jaguar Xk120 drop head coupe, registration 415 XVP, is said to offer more luxury than the Xk120 OTS model thanks to the wind up windows, a more substantial hood, and elegant body lines. However i will let you be the judge on which model is preferred.
The ideal throwback to 1950’s motoring are the subtle details ie, the thin steering wheel in your hands, the side air vents to grab the air and direct it inside the cabin on warm days. Coupled with the iconic inline six sound, makes for one of the best if not incomparable driving experiences.
415 XVP has been subject to a full restoration with nothing left wanting. The trim is a beautiful Tan with work recently completed by Mike Thomas Trimming to the seats. The Burlwood fascia & door caps is stunning. During the restoration the body has been resprayed in what can be described as British Racing Green, synonymous with road & competition Jaguars. Having fully been rebuilt, the engine holds great oil pressure even after lengthy journeys & does not over heat thanks to a modern fan system operated on a switch hidden underneath the dashboard.
The 4 speed manual gearbox is a delight to use. There are no untoward noises or rattles and this car can be enjoyed to its fullest potential. Recently, further works have been undertaken to bring the car to the very next level with presentation and reliability.
Confirmed by Jaguar Classic for the previous owner, this car was built on the 18th May 1953 in the UK and shipped to Hoffman NYC on the 22nd may 1953. Production of the DHC started in 1953 showing this to be a very early DHC example..
Concours winner at the 42nd powers court estate in the best post war tourer class. Presented by the IVVCC which was formed in 1963. 415 XVP still retains its IVVCC badge on the windscreen.
Tastefully the car is now equipped with a stainless steel exhaust system and chromed wire wheels. Also complete with hood bag, owners manual and tool kit, this Jaguar Xk120 DHC needs nothing and is ready to be enjoyed.
