Description
Stunning 1990 Lotus Esprit Turbo SE in desirable black with magnolia leather interior.
In 1987 the classic 70’s Esprit was redesigned by Peter Stevens (who went on to style the McLaren F1). The restyled Esprit (coded X180) was more rounded than the original Series 1, 2 & 3 ‘wedge’ cars. Interior space was also improved.
In 1989 the Turbo SE (Special Equipment) was launched, adding multi point injection, and an air-water-air intercooler, known as a ‘chargecooler’, delivering 264bhp (280bhp on over-boost). This power combined with Lotus legendary light weight and handling, delivered performance of 0-60 mph in 4. 7 seconds and a top speed of 163mph (figures provided by Lotus World January 1990).
The Lotus Esprit Turbo SE was chosen for the car sequences in the 1990 classic films ‘Pretty Woman’ and ‘Basic Instinct’.
