Introduction
Internally designated the 997 and built between 2004 and 2012, it received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2009 model year. Called the 997 Gen II internally but more informally the 997. 2 by enthusiasts included the following changes:
New engine with direct fuel injection, The engine is mounted 10 mm lower in the tail section
Revised suspension system
Revised front bumper with larger air intakes
Headlamps with LED daytime running lights and newly optional dual HID projectors
Revised rear bumper with a new LED tail lights design, AWD models included a reflective stripe between the tail lights
Revised exterior mirrors
Redesigned Porsche Sports Exhaust
Redesigned PCM system with touch-screen, optional hard-drive navigation and Bluetooth Telephone Connectivity for the first time
Tiptronic S option replaced with Porsche’s PDK Double Clutch Transmission
Production of the refreshed model began in late 2008. Initially available models included coupé and cabriolet versions of the Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S and Carrera 4S.
The updated Targa 4 and Targa 4S models were announced on 28 July 2008. The Targa now had a glass roof made of a special glass that repelled UV rays from entering the car. For the Targa 4S, its power output was increased to 385 PS (283 kW; 380 hp). The new Targa 4S has a top speed of 185 mph (298 km/ h) and can accelerate from 0–97 km/ h (0–60 mph) in 4. 7 seconds.
Description
A delightfully specified Targa 4S which presents in completely original and unmolested condition other than we have repainted the front bumper to rectify a small scuff on the lower left hand underside. The remainder of the car sports original paintwork throughout.
Inside there are no marks or damage of note and it looks and smells fresh.
One owner from new, it has a complete service history with specialists after the first service and includes its full and complete book pack, handbook and associated literature in its leather wallet, both keys and a file of invoices for all the work carried out over its life.
Remarkably chip free there are only a few small marks here and there, much better than you would expect for a 12 year old, 48, 000 mile car.
Now due a major service and associated works, this will be carried out prior to delivery to its next custodian.
A rare car, even rarer in its unusual colour combination, it presents very well and really must be seen to be appreciated.
