This beautiful ‘late early’ R107 SL was built just before the 1986 facelift, giving it the benefit of the character of the early car with all of the finesse that a decade of development afforded. These early cars have a distinctly different feel to the later R107 SLs, being somehow rawer, more visceral and a little less refined… Obviously ‘less refined’ is a relative term, this is after all a highly luxurious and comfortable car for it’s day.
Finished in Astral Silver over Anthracite Grey with Mexican Hat alloy wheels, this really is a superb looking car. It offers the true SL experience, whilst being a little unusual in it’s styling. The car is also fitted with rear child seats, as detailed in the original invoice dated 30th October 1984, with a total price of £25, 385. 49 from Dingle Garages, Colwyn Bay.
In 2019 the car arrived at SLSHOP for pre sale inspection before it was sold to the current keeper, who approached us once again in 2021 to discuss parting with the car. It was then purchased by Bruce to use for summer tours and for various events during the summer. Amongst the achievements that this car boasts from this year alone are two trips to London, a place on the Brooklands event and a full day of driving through Wales on location scouting duty for our forthcoming driving tour. We can attest that it performs exactly as a high grade SL should, and the rear seats make it a very usable classic car. Just lovely, and one to be driven.
