Description
Somehow we rarely have ‘Fast Fords’ on offer – but this is a true exception!
In our view the Series 2 Escort RS Turbo was a much improved car to the Series 1 – many new features were added including utilising the 1600 cc fuel injected CVH engine from the Series 1 - but now with the added addition of the water cooled Garrret T3 Turbo. Also an improved gearbox, new LSD & a larger clutch with an improved KE Jetronic unit & an intercooler.
The series 2 also had serious performance figures for its time – producing 132 bhp, with a top speed of 125mph & a 0-60 time of 8 seconds. Not quite as impressive as the Series 1 car but road tests confirmed it to be considerably easier to drive & as such was deemed to be the faster car!
Our impressive ‘time warp’ example – (I don’t really relate to that expression, but in this case it is entirely relevant! ) - has been cosseted from new with an impressive service record book - with 13 stamps covering the period from inception to its current 80k miles.
Recent maintenance has seen the addition of a new fuel pump, new master brake cylinder, new water pump & 2 new rear shocks – plus a recent cambelt change– invoices for all these items are situated in the history file which are included with the car.
The Artic white paintwork is in excellent condition - as are the alloy wheels. The Recaro seats are firm and comfortable with the dashboard, door cards & carpets all presented nicely.
So, one really brilliant classic – ready to be used & enjoyed by its new owner.
