For sale on behalf of my deceased friends sister.
This 1978 Triumph Spitfire was his pride and joy. He used to commute from Blackpool to Kent University in the early 90's and then decided to carry out a restoration of the car in 1992.
The floor pans were replaced along with fitment of fiberglass rear wings and doors. A rare and desirable Sebring front end was also installed that replicates the Le Mans GT6's in period.
A Rimmers brothers short motor was also fitted at this point and a full respray in Porsche Polar silver was carried out. 15" Compomotive 5 spoke MO wheels with Yokohama tyres. It also benefits from a new Burgundy carpet set.
The car was then used infrequently as Robs career took him to the south of England and all over Europe and it was parked in his garage in Bristol. Rob then moved to China and the car sat there until September this year. We removed the car from his garage and carried out various jobs to bring it back to life.
Brake master cylinder and front flexi brake hoses.
Clutch master & slave cylinders.
Waterpump & fan belt.
Carbs cleaned out and fuel tank drained (will require new tank as heavily corroded inside).
It now runs and drives quite nicely, I presented it for an MOT an it failed on:
Indicators & wipers not working. (they do but on a different switch)
Rear ARB bushes.
Rear inner & outer brake pipes.
Central brake pipe.
Track rod end dust covers.
Steering rack gaiter n/ s.
Upper balljoint gaiters.
Fuel system leaking, stuck float now fixed.
Comes with a set of Dolomite Sprints wheels and the original doors.
Great fun to drive and a real head turner with a bit more work will make an interesting British classic.
Sold as seen and with no warranty. Thanks for looking.
